MMIP & Human Trafficking Intersections

Updated: May 12

505 GET FREE Lead Advocate, Maureen Lomahaptewa, joined in the launch of two significant billboards strategically placed to raise awareness across New Mexico's Indian country. These billboards serve as a visual reminder of the urgent issues surrounding human trafficking and the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP). The initiative is not merely a campaign; it represents a concerted effort to engage communities in dialogue and action regarding these pressing matters that disproportionately affect Indigenous populations. By participating in this launch, 505 GET FREE aims to bring attention to the complex dynamics of these issues, which are often intertwined with systemic factors such as poverty, lack of resources, and historical injustices faced by Native communities.

In addition to the billboards, the initiative seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the cultural and societal impacts of human trafficking and MMIP. By amplifying the voices of those affected and raising visibility around these topics, 505 GET FREE hopes to inspire a collective movement toward change.
