Services Offered:

• Specially trained nurses are on-call to respond to immediate sexual assault cases.

• SANE nurses provide sensitive and objective medical care and collect forensic evidence from the sexual assault survivor.

• Medical treatment includes a physical assessment of injuries and prevention for STD and pregnancy from the sexual assault.

• Forensic  evidence includes photography, colonoscopy exam, injury documentation,  and body standards, such as hair, fingernail scrapings.

• The  Albuquerque SANE Collaborative coordinates closely with the Albuquerque  Rape Crisis Center, district attorney offices, and police departments  in Albuquerque, Bernalillo and outlying counties to ensure a  standardized response for sexual assault victims and to raise awareness  about the incidence, risk, and prevention of sexual assault. There is no cost to the survivor.
