The United Nations has taken the global lead in efforts to identify and combat human trafficking, beginning with their Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons Especially Women and Children. This protocol was designed to create a template for the development of legislation to deal with human trafficking issues on a local, national, and international level.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime sponsors the Blue Heart Campaign, a program designed to raise awareness about Human Trafficking Issues and the impact on society.  You can also find additional publications, information, and tools related to the United Nations' efforts here
